78 weeks | Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Invitations (The Twins Naming Day Invites)

Life· Made

So slightly later than anticipated — a whole 4 months later, in fact — I have finally finished writing one of the posts for the babies naming day! I give you… their Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Invitations!

Better late than never, I suppose.

I had had some great ideas for diary entries but leading up to the big day there was so much to do, I just ran out of time. Then, as my lack of posts throughout the summer indicate, our extraordinarily busy life just got in the way and time has sped on.

So, given the fact that I’ve been a designer for half of my entire life, and have spent the last 6 years designing bespoke stationery for various giddy couples — who are either getting married or have just had a baby — designing some naming day invitations, for our Twinkles big day, should have been a relatively painless experience.

After all, I can design an invite standing on my head, usually, right?

Right.

So WHY was it so difficult to design the perfect invitation for my babies? Worthy of them? Wow — if I was my client, I would have told myself to do one.

I spent lots a few sleepless nights, thinking about what I was going to do; before I decided on the following theme.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Sort of made sense really.

And after I’d decided on it, I wondered why on earth it had taken me so long; particularly when two little bundles of inspiration had been staring me in the face for the last 13 months.

Many of the wedding invitations I’ve created over the years have been in a pocketfold format… there are few companies in the UK doing them but mostly they are DIY ones. Or look homemade.

Mine are a little different as they are fully printed — inside and out — and don’t require the wording to be printed on a separate piece of paper and glued on. They’re a fantastic format, when you have lots of information on various cards to include with the invitation, as they keep everything together in a neat little package. Plus they look pretty cool too.

I think it’s lovely to receive something unique through the post. Be it a letter or a card, the anticipation of seeing an enticing looking envelope is very exciting!

In each envelope, our guests received a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star pocketfold invitation; complete with a double sided guest info card, a reply card with matching envelope, plus a directions card.

It made a real change to be sending out my own invitations for a change!

Usually (once they arrive back from the printers) our products get despatched to the customer; and we (almost) never hear how they have been received by the recipients.

Lovely then, for me to be sending these Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Invitations out. And even lovelier to get such positive feedback from everyone!

I’m wracking my brains now to try and think of a good excuse for another party ;)

If you like these cards or need something special designing for your own big day, be it a wedding, Christening, naming day or a party, have a look at my website.

I would LOVE to hear from you! :)

Aaaah thanks Jess! :) I have SO many posts still to write about the day itself… but, as you know, juggling twins, life, a business and everything else in between takes up so much time!! I’ll get there eventually! Caro X
